    Personnel:
  • Larry Ridley - acoustic bass, electric bass
  • Sonny Fortune - flute (#1), alto saxophone (#3,6), soprano saxophone (#5,8)
  • Cornell Dupree - guitar (#1,3,6,8)
  • Onaje Allan Gumbs - acoustic piano, electric piano, clavinet, string synthesizer
  • Grady Tate - drums
  • Errol "Crusher" Bennett - congas, percussion

A rare outing as bandleader for the talented session bassist who has worked with the likes of Jackie McLean, Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard. Originally released on Strata-East, one of the most consistently high-quality jazz labels of the 70's. "Sum of the Parts" ventures a little further into the realms of fusion and smooth jazz then most Strata-East titles, but the level of musicianship remains high throughout, thanks to a strong lineup that includes the unsung Sonny Fortune on sax and Grady Tate on drums. Solid.
