A fantastic electric album from one of the most unique bassists of the 70s – and one that also features help from a hip American rhythm trio too! By the time of this set, Isao Suzuki had already made some incredible records for the Three Blind Mice label – sets that showcased both his inventive work on bass and cello, with very different phrasing than most other players of his generation. This set moves things back into maybe a more familiar fusion mode, but still with plenty of fresh elements too – as Suzuki works in a sextet with Kazumi Watanabe and Kazumasa Akiyama on guitars – plus great work on both Fender Rhodes and piano from Cedar Walton, alongside bass from Sam Jones and drums from Billy Higgins. The mix of players is even better on record than it sounds on paper – and titles include "Cadillac Woman", "Going Home", "Blue Road", and "Bamboo".
