Dekel Bor’s story is a truly remarkable chronicle of the human spirit. The son of Alon Bor, the principal percussionist of the Israel Philharmonic, his path was predictably one of musical accomplishment and connection early in life. Picking up guitar, he studied jazz history and music theory at Thelma Yelin Hiugh School of Arts with classmates Avishai Cohen, Daniel Zamir and others before heading to the Royal Danish Academy on a full scholarship. As with many before him, his path led to New York City, where his talent was quickly recognized by mentor Reggie Workman. Earning his credibility performing with Workman, Roy Hargrove, Donny McCaslin, Ari Hoenig and many more, Dekel was destined for an accredited life in top Jazz circles.

And then things changed, as life often has a different plan. An avid motorcycle rider and brand ambassador for BMW, Bor met his fate in a serious motorcycle accident that almost took his life. His next years found him struggling to return to his destined path, completely learning the guitar again as his body recovered. Most would not have found their way back, but Dekel Bor did, with a newfound appreciation for all things. The accident had ignited a fire for life, and that fire is now in full force.

Throughout this time Dekel kept a journal - a manuscript of melodies, despair, rhythms, laughter, chord structures, friendship, orchestration: A crazy & cool mishmash of syncopated beauty. These musings and melodies were compiled into a demo tape, and some low-key bootlegs from Tel-Aviv quickly passed around Dekel’s NYC jazz milieu and from out of the blue came some offers to share the music, with you. and so, Dekel returns in 2020 with his new project titled Let Love Rule, produced by Robert Sadin (Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Sting). He has a story to tell, not just musically but through ongoing work in the world of the living.
