Black and white are the colors of a piano keyboard but also of the yin and yang of the Taoist doctrine. Darkness and light coexist, in an eternal alternation and in a mutual existential necessity. The music of the disc wants to pay homage to this philosophy through eleven impromptu compositions created solo by Andrea Goretti. The piano is an orchestra capable of exploring the sound abysses and at the same time observing a clear landscape from the high and bright peaks of a mountain. The music of the pianist and composer is striking for its introspective and meditative character. Virtuosity lurks beneath the surface in the intelligent and controlled use of dynamics and harmony. Especially in the solo piano it is able to evoke hidden, intimate emotions, in an aura of tranquility extraneous to the chaotic and noisy world of today. His ambitious goal is to combine some trends of contemporary jazz with classical and avant-garde music in an original way.
