The Intuition Orchestra, one of the most original groups combining improvisation, jazz, avant-garde and contemporary music, returns after six years of silence. Our team is rather ephemeral, so each meeting - whether in the studio or on stage - is a celebration for us that does not happen often. Six years is not that long, we have had periods of longer silence - at the outset, informs Ryszard Wojciul, the spiritus movens of the entire undertaking.
Summa intuitiva is a multi-threaded, very non-obvious album that hides many surprising solutions. The album is stretched between many styles. The avant-garde elements present here are revealed mainly in moments of noise sound or performance expression. They are skillfully neutralized by the strongly jazzy rhythm section, elements of ethnic music, modules taken from rock aesthetics or finally beautiful melodies that emerge unexpectedly from the apparent noise - explains Wojciul.
The final effect, however, is not a faithful record of the recording session, and later studio processing: The music that we record in the studio is always fully improvised - we create in real time with complete freedom. However, it takes its final form later, while working in the studio. It is always a very careful and time-consuming process, and at the same time extremely inspiring - continues the musician.
During the sessions for the album Summa intuitiva, apart from the core of the band, a lot of guests passed through the studio: Each of our recording sessions is a meeting with artists we admire and who are important to us. I wanted the studio to include people dealing with various musical genres on a daily basis, but also those for whom improvisation is an important element of creativity.
The new album is a summary of the over 35-year-long journey in the search for an individual way of creating music in a clash with the sum of intuition, sensitivity, experience and workshop of our distinguished guests - sums up Ryszard Wojciul.
