    Personnel:
  • Romano Mussolini - piano
  • Carlo Loffredo - bass
  • Franco Tonani - drums

  • Cicci Santucci - trumpet (#1-6)
  • Enzo Scoppa - tenor saxophone (#1-6)
  • Dino Piana - trombone (#1-6)

His father was a dictator, but we can hardly hold that against him – because with records like this, Romano Mussolini's made his family name stand as much for jazz as it has for European conquest! The set's a killer from some of Romano's greatest years – a trio set at the core, handled with a sound that's decidedly soulful – thanks to killer rhythms from Carlo Loffredo on bass and Franco Tonani on drums – augmented by some wonderful work on most tracks from Italian jazz all-stars, including Cicci Santucci on trumpet, Enzo Scoppa on tenor, Dino Piana on trombone, and Gianni Sanjust on clarinet! Mussolini leads the group with a great sense of energy – the tightness of the bop generation, but the more spacious swing of the soul jazz scene as well.
