Eight standards that cannot be more standard and a classic piano trio that cannot be more classic.

There is something to delight lovers of the so-called mainstream and, on the contrary, make those looking for new visions and perspectives of a contaminated and constantly evolving music par excellence turn up their noses. But there are also those who simply prepare themselves with open ears and without prejudice to listening to music. And the one contained in Lazy Afternoon is good music. Marcello Tonolo is a gentleman of Italian jazz and, with the class and elegance that distinguish him, he deals with themes full of history and as many infinite interpretations.

Tonolo knows very well that a musical facelift operation is not enough to give them new light, a touch-up to the melody here, a change of rhythm there, a harmonic variation here and there. But it is necessary to become familiar with those compositions, understand their profound nature, bring emotions, memories, feelings to the surface and rework them according to one's own sensitivity, one's history, one's imagination. And this is what the pianist from Mira, accompanied here by the young double bass player Marco Privato and experienced US drummer Jimmy Weinstein, who moved to Padua, play with both hands in Lazy Afternoon.
