An album that takes a journey through some of my favorite jazz repertoire pieces. All of them are part of that first listening experience that every young musician undergoes when entering the magical world of jazz.
I vividly remember the first time I heard the song “Pensativa”; it was at a concert by my dear friend Perico Sambeat in Malaga, alongside his fantastic quartet. I also remember the first time I heard “Serenata”; it was also in Malaga, but this time with a group of octogenarian English musicians who had been residing on the Costa del Sol for many years.
“Moonlight in Vermont” was also heard at a concert by the great organist Joey De Francesco, who unfortunately left us in 2022.
And so, the rest of the album has been completed with other fantastic pieces that have been part of the repertoire of my Catalonian quartet for several years. Santi Colomer, a drummer from the Barcelona scene, has a great musical background and is one of the most sought after. The bassist Bori Albero, solid in his lines and solos, along with my esteemed and great companion for many years, Juan Galiardo on piano, wrap this album with their professionalism and great musical taste, made with much enthusiasm.
