The award winning jazz singer Emmalisa Hallander releases her new album ‘Out of Reach’ (Prophone/Naxos) on March 28th. Like the highly praised debut album ‘Have a Look Inside’ the new record consists of original compositions, this time with an air of the great vocal jazz from the mid 1900s. The music is enriched by romantic string arrangements that elegantly play into a reccurring theme of the album; longing. On some songs Peter Asplund and Per Texas Johansson guests Emmalisa and her first class band consisting of Filip Ekestubbe, Niklas Fernqvist and Henrik Jäderberg.

Emmalisa Hallander has emerged with clarity on the Swedish jazz scene in recent years. In the spring of ’24 she toured in Japan and in the fall she received the prestigious Monica Zetterlund-scholarship with the motivation: “Your sparkling musical flow and breathtaking virtuosity leave no listener untouched. With the utmost finesse and precision, you are a natural and shining star on the jazz scene. With your own hummable melodies and dazzling scat singing, you offer wordless melodicism, musical dynamics, and soulful music.” The music magazine Lira named the vocalist and composer “breakthrough of the year 2023” and many have pointed out her reminiscence of greats like Alice Babs and Anita O’day. Alongside her jazz practice, she performs in the Henrik Dorsin show ‘Svenska Revyn’ at Scalateatern and makes music as part of the pop duo Sand & Hallander.
