Following the global success of The Chicago Experiment, the long awaited fourth in The Experiment Series, Greg Spero brings us 8 unreleased tracks from the original sessions. While the sound is instantly recognizable, The Chicago Experiment: Revisited expands on the original in a flowing and explorative way.

These tracks represent an expansion on the original Chicago Experiment concept, bringing in more long-form compositions, drawing from our early Chicago roots. So much has evolved in Chicago music to bring us to the innovative urban-rooted beat-oriented idiom we play with today. In this record, I'm reaching back to pull in influences from our early days, playing at Von Freeman's jam session, the Green Mill late nights, and our long-form creative improvisations at the Velvet Lounge. (Greg Spero)

Revisited is not a group of bonus tracks assembled for commercial sale; it is a cohesive and deeper look into the artistry of the players and their relationship to one another. One gets the feeling of being present in a dimly lit studio after hours, when the real talk comes out.

About The Series
Renegade independent label turned collaborative artist community Ropeadope continues the acclaimed Experiment series with the 2022 release of The Chicago Experiment. The Experiment series began in June 2001 with The Philadelphia Experiment - featuring ?uestlove, Christian McBride, and Uri Caine with special guest Pat Martino. Widely known as a hallmark in progressive Jazz, The Philadelphia Experiment set a standard for artist-controlled improvisation in the studio. The Detroit Experiment, produced by Aaron Luis Levinson and Carl Craig, followed soon after with a stellar cast including Amp Fiddler, Geri Allen, Karriem Riggins and many more. 2007 saw the release of The Harlem Experiment, once again produced by Levinson, which dug into a crossover blend of Latin Jazz and Funk with a diverse cast including Steven Bernstein, Carlos Alomar, Don Byron, Taj Mahal, Olu Dara, Queen Esther, and Steve Berrios. Future plans include The Mexico City Experiment and more cities to be announced.
